Loyle Carner had a fan kicked out of one of his shows after they made a sexist remark about his support act.

Video taken at the gig showed the Mercury Prize-shortlisted artist on stage addressing a person in the audience at Nick Rayns LCR at the University of East Anglia in Norwich.

Other people at the show said the fan had shouted "you have big t**s" at the female artist opening Carner's show.

"I'm sorry man, you gotta learn a lesson my young man," he says in the video, to cheers and applause from the audience, describing what they were wearing for security. "You gotta go. For being sexist, you gotta go."

Another video then showed him continuing his performance.

Carner quoted a fan's tweet after the show and wrote: "That s*** will not be tolerated at any show. He's been banned from that venue, for life."

More and more male artists are speaking out against sexist abuse of female fans and artists at their shows.

In August, Architects frontman Sam Carter called out a man who allegedly grabbed a fan's breast while she was crowdsurfing.

The artist was praised for stopping the show to address the behaviour and make a speech about how it would not be tolerated.

Loyle Carner recently stopped by The Independent office to speak with Benjamin Zephaniah about music, Shakespeare and dyslexia, which you can watch below:
