These Black Women Joined Forces To Transform The $4.5 Trillion Dollar Wellness Industry For Women Of Color

This article is more than 3 years old.

What do you get when a brilliant brand strategist and an amazing yoga instructor join forces to transform the wellness industry for women of color? You get more Black and Brown wellness entrepreneurs making six figures and more in an industry that has widely ignored their existence until now.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit serial entrepreneurs Alechia Reese and Dr. Sanaa Jaman, both had thriving businesses and were focused on expansion. However, like many other small businesses, COVID-19 forced them to pivot. They found themselves in an unlikely position as business partners.

They founded Tru3 Yoga Agency and launched the #BrandtoBusiness Accelerator Program which equips wellness leaders with the essential tools they need to transform their brands into profitable businesses. Their goal — help 10,000 women of color maximize and monetize their passion for wellness through a proven blueprint designed to help establish, launch, and scale their wellness businesses.

Within the first 30 days of the launch of the agency Dr. Jaman and Reese had garnered over $36,000 - during a pandemic. They then helped other women of color achieve revenues in their wellness businesses, some for the very first time, while others hit 5-figures in sales.

Using the Kenyan principle, ‘Harambee’ meaning all pull together. They developed a program to provide even more access to opportunity launching the Tru3 Fellowship Program.

The agency will soon be awarding four women of color in the wellness industry full fee waiver invitations to join the February cohort of the #BrandtoBusiness Elites Accelerator

According to the Federal Reserve, average annual sales from businesses owned by black women are two times smaller than the next-lowest demographic group, Hispanic women, and close to five times smaller than for all women-owned businesses. Tru3 Yoga Agency is providing the tools and resources to help solve the diversity issue in the wellness industry.

The application is open until February 23, 2021 for the next cohort. For more information about the fellowship, visit the website.
