New data from a dashcam manufacturer have revealed that nearly half of female drivers (49 per cent) are subjected to road rage from the opposite sex.

The study of 2,000 men and women was conducted by Nextbase.

During these altercations between men and women, gender was referenced 17 per cent of the time against women, yet only nine per cent of the time against men.

In addition to this, only a quarter of men believe that women encounter more negativity on the roads.

Sexism on the roads

Tiffany Roberts, spokesperson at Nextbase, said: “It’s disappointing to see that sexism is on the roads in this day and age, as well as the high proportion of people who are being targeted with road rage.”

Student Sophia Jackson (22) said: “One incident has really stuck with me from when I was 19. A white van driver tailgated me for miles, eventually forcing me into a dead end where he got out of his van and started yelling and screaming at me.”

Unfortunately, 80 per cent of female drivers subjected to road rage by men said the incidents stuck with them for at least several hours, with 31 per cent of women being affected for days afterwards.
