It is time for modern-day self-proclaimed feminists to recognize that part of the success of the true feminist movement in this country is that women are empowered to think for themselves—and that means that they won’t all think or vote the same. Disagreement is a sign of women’s advancement.
“Seeing the kind of stuff that people are fighting for in the (state) legislature, and how irrelevant it is to women, is really disheartening, and it turns off a lot of women to the Republican Party. I think that there needs to be a major social mover, a woman who just comes out of the woodwork and really charts a path for women. I haven’t seen anyone really take the national consciousness there. It’s really sad, but there really isn’t a figurehead for the movement for the empowerment of women who are Republican. We need a figurehead to look up to, someone who is larger than life.”

The Proud Boys were founded at the height of the 2016 presidential campaign by Gavin McInnes, a New York-based conservative online talk show host and co-founder of Vice Media who has since cut ties with the company. He estimates the membership at about 5,000 men nationwide. McInnes and his followers believe there are 10 ways to “save America”: Abolish prisons, give each American a gun, legalize drugs, end welfare, close borders to illegal immigrants, outlaw censorship, venerate the housewife, glorify the entrepreneur, shut down the government and declare “the West is the best.”
