Chatchai “Sam” Panuthai ,a single father in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, didn't want his children to feel left out because their mother couldn’t attend their school's mother's day ceremony. So he donned a dress and came in her stead. “Everyone enjoyed it and all laughed and took photos with him,” a friend of Panuthai's said. “His two sons weren’t quite sure what was going on and why Dad was wearing a dress.” The father's friend also took photos from the Mother’s Day event, with the caption: “Best mom of 2018.”
“The professor proceeded to tell me, in front of my whole class, that I was inviting the male gaze away from the content of my presentation and onto my body,” she wrote on Facebook, noting that her professor is a white woman. “She said I was making a statement by wearing my outfit. I told her that I sure as hell wouldn’t change my statement to make her or anyone else feel more comfortable.”
"Richardson wrote that she chose “A Wrinkle in Time” because the movie’s main character is played by a young black actress, Storm Reid: “A brown girl front and center who looks like me in the role of Meg, a girl traveling to different planets and encountering beings and situations that I’d never seen a girl of color in. Most impressive and importantly, it’s a fantasy film that is not about some white boys fighting evil, but about a black girl overcoming it.”
