Andrée Peel, the French Resistance hero who rescued over 100 British and American pilots shot down over France, was born on this day in 1905. The Brest beautician known as "Agent Rose" became one of the most highly decorated women to survive WWII. She helped save countless lives until she was arrested by the Gestapo shortly after D-Day.
