‘I just hope to live until our victory’

Of the 4.8 million Ukrainians who have registered in other European countries as refugees since the war began, most are younger women and children. In contrast, older women stayed in Ukraine and have largely remained invisible to the outside world, despite their experience, wisdom, and resilience.

A new report by the US Merchant Marine Academy found that students who say they were victims of sexual assault remain reluctant to report their alleged assailants in ways that would prompt investigations. Instead, most of those students — around 80% — made so-called “restricted” reports, meaning they spoke confidentially to staff and students, thereby allowing the victim to seek medical treatment and counseling without triggering an investigation.
Most international tariff systems have flat rates applying to all underwear, regardless of gender. In Australia, that rate is 5%; it’s 10% in New Zealand; 18% in Canada; 20% in Colombia and Jamaica; 25% in India, 30% in Thailand, and 45% in South Africa. Meanwhile, the average US tariff rate on women’s undergarments is 15.5%, compared to just 11.5% for men’s.
