When Nancy Faust started as organist for the Chicago White Sox in 1970, many die-hard fans didn't think a woman should be employed at the ballpark at all. But over the next 41 years, Faust would shape the sound of baseball. She was the first to use the organ to react to the game itself. For example, she is the reason fans sing "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" when a pitcher is pulled from a game, and invented the concept of walk-up music for batters.
Redskins coach Ron Rivera hired King as a wide receivers coaching intern for the Carolina Panthers the past two summers. "Part of it, it's all about the fan base," Rivera told ESPN at the time. "It's also knowing the moms out there that understand the game. It's important because they really do control as to whether their kids are going to play. This is something that has to be developed."
Clubs in the National Women's Soccer League will be allowed to boost salaries and pay premiums to top-end players to help them to attract the world's best talent. The nine clubs will each get an extra $300,000 in allocation money next season to pay top players more than the maximum permitted salary if they meet certain criteria.
